CATECHISM CHALLENGE - L.D. 2

What is My Sorry State?L.D. 2
Q. 3 How do you come to know your misery?
A. The law of God tells me.

Q. 4 What does God's law require of us?
A. Christ teaches us this in summary in Matthew 22—
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. This is
the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it:
Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the
Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Q. 5 Can you live up to all this perfectly?
A. No. I have a natural tendency to hate God and my neighbor.

1. How do you come to know your misery? (Rom. 3:20)

2. What does God’s law require of you towards God? Heart? Will (Soul)? Mind? (Deut. 6:5; Matt. 22:37) What does God’s law require towards people? (Matt. 22:38-39)

3. What does the Bible say about your goodness? (Rom. 3:9-20, 23)

4. If you are trying to be good enough for God by obeying the law, what are you under? (Gal 3:10; Deut 27:26)

5. What does the Bible say about your heart condition? (Eph. 2:1-3)
